1988年毕业于中央美术学院雕塑系,现为中央美术学院教授、城市设计学院副院长、北京市人名政府专家顾问团顾问、全国城市雕塑艺术委员会副主任、中国雕塑学会常务理事、副秘书长,

中国工艺美术学会雕塑专业委员会副主任、国际动态艺术组织艺术委员。

曾荣获中国环境艺术杰出贡献奖、新中国城市雕塑60年建设成就奖等国家级艺术奖项,

参加北京国际美术双年展,巴黎中国当代雕塑艺术展,美国中国当代雕塑与装置展等国内外重要展览。

出版专著《公共艺术概论》 、《奥运文化与公共艺术》等,作为中央美术学院公共艺术学科带头人,王中教授十余年来致力于国内外公共艺术领域的研究工作.

2000年在中央类术学院雕塑系创办中国第一个公共艺术本科数学工作室.

2005年在中央美术学联城市设计学院创办公共艺术系.

2007年主持建设部“中外城市公共艺术投资政策对比研究”课题,

2008年多步与第二十九届北京奥林匹克运动会开幕式策划工作,作品《御风》永久安放在国家奥林匹克公园.

荣获北京2008奥组委微发“工作荣誉奖",

2009年主持上海世博园区公共艺术设计,应邀与韩国著名雕塑家成熏东合作,为上海世博会韩国馆创作了 “金兰之交的树”主题雕望。

Graduated from the sculpture department of the central academy of fine arts in 1988, is now a professor of the central academy of fine arts, deputy dean of the school of urban design, consultant of Beijing municipal government expert advisory group, deputy director of the national urban plastic art committee, executive director of the Chinese sculpture society, deputy secretary-general.

Deputy director of the sculpture committee of the Chinese academy of arts and crafts, member of the art committee of the international dynamic art organization.

It has won many national art awards, such as the outstanding contribution award of China's environmental art and the 60th anniversary of the founding of new China's urban sculpture.

Participated in the Beijing international art biennale, Paris Chinese contemporary sculpture art exhibition, American Chinese contemporary sculpture and installation exhibition and other important exhibitions at home and abroad.

Published monographs introduction to public art, Olympic culture and public art, etc.

As the academic leader of public art of the central academy of fine arts, professor wang zhong has been dedicated to the research work in the field of public art at home and abroad for more than ten years.

In 2000, he founded China's first public art undergraduate mathematics studio in the sculpture department of central polytechnic university.

In 2005, he founded the department of public art in the urban design institute of the central academy of fine arts.

2008 multi-step and 29th Beijing Olympic Games opening ceremony planning work, the work "royal wind" permanently placed in the national Olympic park.

In 2009, he presided over the public art design of Shanghai world expo park,  and was invited to cooperate with renowned Korean sculptor sung sung-dong to create the "tree at the intersection of golden orchids" theme for the Korean pavilion of Shanghai world expo.
