Graduated from the sculpture department of the central academy of fine arts in 1988, is now a professor of the central academy of fine arts, deputy dean of the school of urban design, consultant of Beijing municipal government expert advisory group, deputy director of the national urban plastic art committee, executive director of the Chinese sculpture society, deputy secretary-general.

Deputy director of the sculpture committee of the Chinese academy of arts and crafts, member of the art committee of the international dynamic art organization.

It has won many national art awards, such as the outstanding contribution award of China's environmental art and the 60th anniversary of the founding of new China's urban sculpture.

Participated in the Beijing international art biennale, Paris Chinese contemporary sculpture art exhibition, American Chinese contemporary sculpture and installation exhibition and other important exhibitions at home and abroad.

Published monographs introduction to public art, Olympic culture and public art, etc.

As the academic leader of public art of the central academy of fine arts, professor wang zhong has been dedicated to the research work in the field of public art at home and abroad for more than ten years.

In 2000, he founded China's first public art undergraduate mathematics studio in the sculpture department of central polytechnic university.

In 2005, he founded the department of public art in the urban design institute of the central academy of fine arts.

In 2007, presided over the project of "comparative study on Chinese and foreign urban public art investment policies" of the ministry of construction.

2008 multi-step and 29th Beijing Olympic Games opening ceremony planning work, the work "royal wind" permanently placed in the national Olympic park.

Awarded the "honorable mention for work" by Beijing 2008 Olympic organizing committee

In 2009, he presided over the public art design of Shanghai world expo park,  and was invited to cooperate with renowned Korean sculptor sung sung-dong to create the "tree at the intersection of golden orchids" theme for the Korean pavilion of Shanghai world expo.
